BLOW WIND BLOW Got no time for the incidents That turn into coincidence A woman next to me Shows me a tapestry Oh, blow wind blow I do not yet know where I’m going I arrived on a train Carried me here from the plains The woman next to me She’s as gorgeous as the sea Oh, blow wind blow But the river keeps on flowing Got a pocketful of sand We raise a glass For all the misfits in this here land Got trashed last night Said some things that weren’t right But you don’t recognize Through the porcelain eyes Oh, blow wind blow Because no pattern is yet showing Got a pocketful of sand We waive a wand For all the misfits in this here land Oh, the flicker of the flame The barrels of the grain A hundred years are gone It’s so long, long, long Oh, blow wind blow Oh, blow wind blow Oh, blow wind blow Because I’m leavin’ in the morning

GOODYBE JANEY Janey walks the white beach The water spins beyond her reach She meditates upon a mango, A pear, a coconut, and a peach She had to fly to San Diego To get away from the snow She wants to find the place Where the sun coats life with a glow Don’t you know she bought A one-way ticket that she couldn’t pay Janey was a pet, she ran till there Was nothing left to run away from It’s kind of like we used to say, we’d say Janey goodbye Let the ocean up to you Your dreams aren’t what you thought they were Ah, but broken dreams are nothing new One of these days I’m gonna live my life right I’m gonna set myself up, I’m gonna take a little time Until then I guess I’ll settle For second best and halfway All in all, we had a ball, we had a blast We’ve got the photographs, still you’re feelin’ sad In the end we’re best of friends So much depends upon the simple fact So don’t be angry when you’re lookin’ back Janey goodbye Let the ocean up to you Your dreams aren’t what you thought they were Ah, but broken dreams are nothing new Oh, baby goodbye, baby goodbye Oh, baby goodbye, baby goodbye Goodbye Don’t you know she bought A one-way ticket that she couldn’t pay Janey was a pet, she ran till there Was nothing left to run away from It’s kind of like we used to say We’d run away We used to say we’d run away We’d run away then we’d say Janey goodbye Let the ocean up to you Your dreams aren’t what you thought they were Ah, but broken dreams are nothing new It’s impossible To ever say just what you mean Don’t resent your crown, you beauty queen And baby come on Oh, baby goodbye, baby goodbye Oh, baby goodbye, baby goodbye Oh, baby goodbye, baby goodbye Oh, baby goodbye, baby goodbye

BLOODSTAINED HANDS She huffs and she puffs as she runs through the hall She keeps all her goals in her locket And all of her friends at the edge of the stall They keep all their hands in their pockets Jemima you fell to Bacchus and his pards Your daughters have lost all their pearls Your son he is old, but your father sees stars He lost all his lust for the girls Hold me now in the rain and the moonlight Don’t you know that the time is just right I can tell, baby, by the way you stand Get up now in the rain and the moonlight Don’t you know that the soul is just right I can tell by your bloodstained hands Now, why, oh, why father did you forsake us? We did nothing wrong to deserve this I just loved your daughter, now she caused a fuss Her rash, childish ways make you nervous Get up now in the rain and the moonlight Don’t you know that the time is just right I can tell, baby, by the way you stand Get up now in the rain and the moonlight Don’t you know that the soul is just right I can tell by your bloodstained hands Tonight, ‘neath the trees Something died in the cool night breeze There’s a necklace there It’s not an easy thing to repair Get up now in the rain and the moonlight Don’t you know that the time is just right I can tell, baby, by the way you stand You always hoped that it would be better The beauty burst when you just met her Heal me now with the palms up your bloodstained hands Do-do-do, yeah

IS THIS THE TIME? Walked away down a cable-car junction Watched the train rollin’ by Felt the need to call you from the function Have you look me right in the eye Is this the place I’ve been building? Is this the time for the change? Is this the home you’ve been making? Is this the hour of the ghost? Crossed a name out in a directory Made a rumor of old, abandoned dreams Couch-surfed till we found the dormitory I decided I’d be switchin’ teams Is this the place I’ve been building? Is this the time for the change? Is this the home you’ve been making? Is this the hour of the ghost? Is this the place I’ve been building? Is this the time for the change? Is this the home you’ve been making? Is this the hour of the ghost? La-La-La

WHEN THE ROOSTER CROWS Hey now, you don’t know What’s gonna come when the rooster crows You get married then head off to war Hey now, he didn’t smile What would come when he crossed the isle Wedding bells are gonna put his life on the right track And you know sometimes it’s hard Hey now, you don’t know What’s gonna come when the rooster crows But you can never make sense of your experience Hey now, he didn’t know What would come when the foghorn blows And whisks him away to some foreign land Hey now, you don’t know What’s gonna come when the rooster crows Finish high school, put a rifle in his hand Hey now, his ship’s pullin’ in He’s been to hell and back again Is there anything worth getting excited for? He spent some time ‘neath a palm tree In a battle by a raging sea When he came back his wife didn’t recognize him anymore And you know sometimes it’s hard Now he’s on the back steps Screamin’ life’s not over yet Seems like the age Is havin’ its way with him Hey now, the lawn is green It’s scorchin’ down in New Orleans And the black girls run barefoot in the dust Hey now, the old men sneeze The chessboard’s balanced on their knees They’re content to smile and not make a fuss He remembered how the death smelled In the fog of war and the flying shells Whistling past the waves and the white, speckled sands of the lagoon He wanted some island girl To take his red blood for a whirl Under the nighttime sky and the gleam of the moon He had a rich buddy or two Mattered not his blood was blue Till the enemy fire spilled his blood out Gushin’ crimson, maroon Hey now, the years are gone He’s war-torn and wants to move on He’s livin’ the married life, tryin’ to stay clean And daddy’s on the porch steps Screamin’ life’s not over yet His gut is gettin’ bigger like an aging marine Hey now, he’s goin’ gold The summer of youth to the December cold It’s midlife and he’s crawlin’ over the hill Hey now, il fait beau temps What’s not here now is forever lost He follows his fortune like a pill Hey now, il fait beau temps What’s not here now is forever lost You never had control and you never will Hey now, you don’t know What’s gonna come when the rooster crows Better make hay while the sun is shinin’ still Oh-ah-oh-ah-ay

SLIPPIN’ AWAY Livin’ on borrowed time Trying to pay the rent Letting all the love you lost Sit with the money you spent Well, the money’s been spent But the scene’s too big for painting Go home, Theresa You know your mother is waiting When the ones you love Seem so far away I can’t help feelin’ That my best days are slippin’ away Thirteen daughters arrived And all the mistresses fell To the churchyard floor Where they swore they heard Jehovah’s bells I’m lost in the stain glass blast And the perfume smell This might be heaven But it ain’t too different from hell When the ones you love Seem so far away I can’t help feelin’ That my best days are slippin’ away Slippin’ away, slippin’ away Slippin’ away, slippin’ away I can’t help feelin’ that my best days are slippin’ away When the ones you love Seem so far away I can’t help feelin’ That my best days are slippin’ away Slippin’ away, slippin’ away Slippin’ away, slippin’ away I can’t help feelin’ that my best days are slippin’ away I’m goin’ down, goin’ down, goin’ down, goin’ down I’m goin’ down, goin’ down, goin’ down, goin’ down I’m goin’ down, goin’ down, goin’ down, goin’ down I’m goin’ down, goin’ down, goin’ down, goin’ down

THE LUCKY ONES Turn the light out, baby Say goodbye now lady See the lamplight twitch All the shadows, they disappear quick But I guess I’m still a romantic What happened to all of those songs? The more we know, the more we fight So shrug it off now baby While the people pass you by You are old enough to notice That you’re not too young to die Look out your window baby They don’t know nothing We’re the lucky ones And they’ll get knocked down again In a carnival of heroes Watch them bark and yearn We’ll make it better when we begin to learn that I guess we’re still both romantics The more they know, the less they fight So shrug it off now baby While the people pass you by You are old enough to notice That you’re not too young to die Oh, it seems so criminal They don’t know nothin’ We’re the lucky ones And they’ll get knocked down again Oh, yeah So shrug it off now baby While the people pass you by You are old enough to notice That you’re not too young to die So shrug it off now baby No one prepared you for today Who would want to live forever When it all just fades away Oh, look at all your heroes They don’t know nothin’ We’re the lucky ones, baby We’re the lucky ones, baby And they’ll get knocked down Oh, yeah Ooh-ooh-ooh And they’ll get knocked down again

Lose It All 04:13
LOSE IT ALL You have always known There would come a day When you and God and I Would be on our way When you bet so high then lose it all When you bet so high then have so far to fall When you bet so high then lose it all Oh, you never know what you’ve got until you lose it all I know, it could be deceiving And I know you’re not too sure Whose ideas should be believin’ As you go on You can hear the voices Of the guests at the ball You need some hope Some reason to belong When you bet so high then lose it all When you bet so high then have so far to fall When you bet so high then lose it all Oh, you never know what you’ve got until you lose it all I know there’s no end to changin’ And after what we’ve sold Through it all That is worth saving when we get old But you have always known There would come a day When you and God and I Would be on our way I can hear them calling I don’t know why they came I don’t know why they said those things they said to you When you bet so high then lose it all When you bet so high then have so far to fall When you bet so high then lose it all Oh, you never know what you’ve got until you lose it all

Gypsy Wind 03:48
GYPSY WIND She turns her collar up And she shuffles away Her warm breath it steams In a seamless way In the foggy dim of the evening On a seaside slope She recalls some glimpse of love And some semblance of hope She’s sick of tryin’ to stay a bloat She won’t bother rockin’ the boat She’s had enough She knows what’s gonna come It’s gonna be a cold, gypsy wind And the storm front’s rollin’ in It’s another hard mornin’ Comin’ in once again And she don’t know anyone or hold anything The clouds all whirl around As she dreams of sailin’ away The heights brought her too close to her fears All the pain has left her The gravity of her years She’s sick of tryin’ to stay a bloat She won’t bother rockin’ the boat She’s had enough She knows what’s gonna come She looks out to the sea Says Lord come rescue me She wants to know How it feels to fall endlessly And she’s gone on a gypsy wind And sure enough the storm’s here again No more lonely mornings They’ve come to an end And for this broken world She hasn’t left a thing And she’s gone on a gypsy wind And sure enough the storm’s here again No more lonely mornings They’ve come to an end And for this broken world She hasn’t left a thing

DO IT OR DON’T Either you do it or you don’t If you want it to just happen Well, it won’t Either you do it or you don’t You spend your time thinkin’ Is somebody lyin’? You think of ones who knew the truth And the ones who were spyin’ You think it might make sense someday The details are hazy But you keep on waiting And it’s drivin’ you crazy Either you do it or you don’t Either you do it or you don’t If you want it to just happen Well, it won’t Either you do it or you don’t You spend your time guessin’ What others are thinking You think you might move away And then the truth starts to sink in But the dots are not connecting There’s something missing There’s a difference when you’re doin’ Instead of just wishin’ Either you do it or you don’t Either you do it or you don’t If you want it to just happen Well, it won’t Either you do it or you don’t Either you do it or you don’t Either you do it or you don’t If you want it to just happen Well, it won’t Either you do it or you don’t Either you do it Either you do it
